Description
In our society today, multilingualism is the rule rather than the exception. But as a speech therapist, how do you go about treating this patient population? You probably speak a fair bit of French or English, but is this enough to treat a multilingual person with aphasia? What do you do if the multilingual person speaks Chinese or Berber? This seminar will give you concrete tools. Silke Coemans focusses on language research in multilingual persons with aphasia. She uses imaging research to show the altered representation of language in the brain. What is the role of the frontal lobe? What is the role of the cerebellum? What are the patterns of loss and recovery and how to respond to them in therapy or through environmental support?Periode | 17 mrt 2022 |
