Abstract
This study on homophobic hate speech in Italian tweets, in which we focus on the contextual cues that differentiate lexicalisations of the concept of HOMOSEXUAL MAN in Italian (e.g.: gay, omosessuale, frocio, checca etc.), is part of the larger ALIHAS-project. ALIHAS is the acronym of 'A Linguistic Investigation of HAte Speech: How to identify it and how to avoid it', was seed-funded by Una Europa, and led by Silvio Cruschina (Helsingin Yliopisto) and Chiara Gianollo (Università di Bologna).
