Abstract
This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of perioperative pain neuroscience education (PPNE) in patients who are at risk for unfavorable outcome following surgery for lumbar radiculopathy. As such, a multicentric randomized controlled trial was developed to compare the therapy effects of PPNE to perioperative biomedical educationin these at-risk patients. The intervention included 2 face-to-face education sessions and access to an educational web application. Assessments took place 1 week pre-surgery (baseline), and at 6 weeks (primaryendpoint), 6 months and 1 year post-surgery. During assessments, data was collected for participants' health-related quality of life, pain, pain cognitions, analgesic use, professional situation, and demographic data.
