In June 2022, I graduated as a Master of Sciences in Drug Discovery and Development: pharmacist. During my master's thesis, I completed a 3-month internship in the Neuro-Aging (NAVI) research lab at the Free University of Brussels. At that time, my master's thesis was focused on Covid-19.

Since my childhood, I have always been intrigued by science and medicine. This motivation was also the reason why I started studying pharmacy in the first place. During my final year’s research internship, this passion for research was only fueled and for this reason, I chose to pursue a PhD. I completed my first year as a PhD student in the Neuro-Aging & Viro-Immunotherapy (NAVI) lab under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Joeri Aerts and Prof. Dr. Thomas Demuyser.

After an instructive first year, I accepted a new position as a teaching assistant and doctoral researcher at the Hematology and Immunology (HEIM) lab. My research project focuses on the development of a nanobody-based CAR-T therapy in the context of multiple myeloma and the influence of the gut microbiome on CAR-T cell-induced anti-tumor responses.

In addition, I teach practical biology classes to first-year Bachelor students in Biomedical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The topics covered during these courses include microscopy (single- and multicellular organisms, mitosis and meiosis, and lower vertebrates) and theoretical sessions related to genetics (Mendelian Genetics and population genetics) and molecular techniques (PCR, RT-PCR, Sanger sequencing, and use of restriction enzymes).
