Expertise

Joris de Hoog is a postdoctoral researcher and business developer for the Battery Innovation Centre at the Electromobility research group MOBI at VUB. He obtained his PhD at the same department in 2018, after which he worked as modeling expert in various industries before coming back to the university. 

As a researcher, Joris concentrates on state estimation modeling for current and next generation batteries, with a particular interest in stationary storage systems. Additionally, he guides PhD candidates working on both electrical and electrochemical research topics. 

As a business developer, he focuses on the development of project proposals, both for national and European projects. These projects are either bilateral contract research types, or fully funded, consortium-based large scale endeavors. He keeps track of the state of the European battery manufacturing and raw material production field, as well as their legislative context. 

Joris is an experienced public speakers, giving both technical and socio-economic talks and lectures.
