Expertise
Sara Roda is a researcher in the LSTS research group and DPIA Lab since October 2018. She also collaborates with the HALL research group in their external guest lecture activities. Her main research interests are data protection, innovation/experimentation in law, robotic law, human-robot interactions, artificial intelligence and ethics, PNR data and law enforcement access to data. She is currently preparing her PhD on regulatory sandboxes, innovation and data protection, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Paul De Hert, and is involved in the EU co-funded project HR-Recycler.
Sara graduated from Lisbon University Law School, public law option (2001). She holds a “DES – Diplome d’études specialisés” in public and administrative law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles law school (2006) and an LLM in International and European Law from VUB/IES - Institute of European Studies in Brussels (2018). She worked as a lawyer in Lisbon at Abreu, Cardigos & Associados (currently Abreu Advogados) and at ABBC Law firm (currently DLA Piper) in the areas of public and administrative law until 2009. She worked as a legal and senior policy officer at the CED – Council of European Dentists (not-for-profit association) (Jan. 2010-Nov. 2016). She obtained a data protection officer (DPO) certificate from the Belgian Institute of Data Protection in 2017.
Sara is member of the Portuguese Bar Association (2003) and is part of the Core Programming Committee of the Computers, Privacy and Data Protection - CPDP international conferences and is the DPO of the CPDP2020.
