Liver diseases, including liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, and cancer, present a significant global health challenge with a major burden of disease. Liver fibrosis, characterized by abnormal scar tissue accumulation in the liver, is primarily induced by activated hepatic stellate cells following liver damage. Currently, treatment options for liver fibrosis are limited to addressing the underlying cause or liver transplantation. However, these options are often not possible. My research focuses on investigating hepatic stellate cells using techniques such as transcriptomics to uncover novel insights into their role in liver fibrosis. Through this, we aim to develop innovative treatment strategies to combat liver fibrosis.
