1st place for best trending capability at HUMS2023 data competition

The Australian Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) prepared a Data Challenge for
the International Conference on Health and Usage Monitoring. The challenge involved the detection and tracking of a defect in a helicopter planetary gearbox. Vibration data coming from a planet gear fatigue crack propagation test was shared in August 2022. Deadline for submission of findings was in October 2022. Participation was completely open and could happen in teams. I decided to participate by myself. In total, 14 teams participated of which 11 decided to present their results publicly. These 11 teams included the following institutions and companies: VUB, KU Leuven, IOT consultants, Deakin University, Lockheed Martin, Dedicated System Ltd., Cranfield university, National Research Council Canada, Foresight GPMS, Mathworks, Accenture/Avenade.
DSTG conferred two awards: one for the team that makes the earliest convincing detection of the planet
gear crack, and one for the team that most accurately tracks the crack progression. I won first prize in both categories.
