This conference aims to bring together all disciplines of Physics, both in research and education.
Next to a plenary session dealing with general topics, the meeting foresees parallel sessions on:
• Astrophysics, geophysics & plasma physics
• Atoms, molecules, optics and photonics
• Biological, medical, statistical and mathematical physics
• Condensed matter and nanostructure physics
• Fundamental interactions, particle and nuclear physics
• Physics and education
The meeting addresses all kinds of physics research performed at Belgian universities and research institutes, all levels of physics education starting from secondary school up to university level, and includes also physics research and application development in industry. This edition of the conference at Vrije Universiteit Brussl (VUB) continues the tradition of annual scientific meetings that were organized before.
Even though this national meeting is targeted mainly at the Belgian audience, the conference still has an international character in several ways. The physics community in Belgium is by its own nature very internationally minded. The scientific reports in the parallel and poster sessions quite often cover work that has been carried out in an international collaboration. For the plenary, as well as parallel sessions, a number of foreign, internationally renowned speakers are invited to present projects or topics of global importance.
