Samenvatting
Accurate modeling of an Advanced-Super-View (ASV) pixel is used to obtain the liquid crystal dynamics and steady state director orientation. In agreement with previously published experimental results, rotation of the liquid crystal about the pixel centre is demonstrated. We show that creating defects at the pixel center inhibits this rotation. A modified ASV pixel design that includes additional electrodes is shown able to provide precise control over the liquid crystal orientation throughout the pixel. This control makes possible the provision of public and private viewing modes via careful selection of the electrode voltages.
