Samenvatting

With the growing popularity of the image of the "productive city", both in political and academic circles, there is a growing consensus on the need to maintain - and even redevelop - urban manufacturing activities in the city. However, while public actors, through their economic policies and spatial planning, favour the deployment of certain activities, they also do so to the detriment of others. This double process has consequences, since not all manufacturing activities are the same. Indeed, each sector has its own operating constraints and can have varying social and economic repercussions. This work, which is the result of collaboration between two research projects, is therefore part of a comparative and qualitative empirical approach that aims to understand the realities of these different types of activities and the issues related to their maintenance or development.
