Samenvatting

This study seeks to examine the general learning strategies of 14 evening school English learners in Yunnan Normal University. The relationship between variables like gender, language teaching method and learner's choice of learning strategies is discussed. Also this paper deals with differences of choice of learning strategies between good language learners and poor ones. It is hoped that the findings can evoke some concern regarding adult learners' learning strategies and implications which can bring enlightenment for learning and teaching of mature students in Chinese EFL context.
