Samenvatting

Road transportation sector is among the major contributors in energy consumption and CO2 emissions. The need for the adoption and implementation of actions towards more environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation systems is urgent mainly in the megacities. Electromobility and alternative fuels are considered to be key - solutions towards a greener and cleaner transportation system, having a direct effect on energy saving and emissions reduction. This paper evaluates the good practices concerning electromobility and alternative fuels, implemented in 9 European regions in 8 European countries. The assessment of the efficiency of each practice is based on 6 criteria: relative advantage of electric vehicles over conventional, ease of use, vehicle performance enhancement, increase of public awareness, environmental impact and energy system management and operation enhancement. Each Good practice is evaluated using a scale from 0 to 5 (0 means no significant impact and 5 very high positive impact of the good practice on the criteria). For further ranking and overall evaluation of the practices, the Analytic Hierarchical Process (AHP) is applied. Through this method, the above-mentioned criteria are hierarchized and pairwise compared resulting in their weight calculation for estimating their significance in assessing the effectiveness of the good practice. The results reveal that the most important criteria for the evaluation of the practices is the environmental benefits they offer and their impact on the management and operation of energy systems.
