Colour space and its impact on the cinematographic discourse: Tests of light fixtures

Onderzoeksoutput: Conference paper

Samenvatting

The ability to position a color with vectors (Hue-Saturation-Value) in a space is in analogy with the spatial vectorisation of the brain that can locate words (ideas-thoughts) in a “meaning space”. Excitingly, we can imagine to link the spatial position of a colour in a colour space with a narrative meaning in the meaning space (or the semantic space) of the brain. This is new territory and I am experimenting with it in order to advance the understanding of the use of colour for visual storytelling. I am preparing the key-light tests to go through the post production pipeline with the compositing and the colour grading team.
