COMPRESSIVE AND FLEXURAL PERFORMANCE OF 3D PRINTED CARBON FIBRE REINFORCED POLYAMIDE 6 PLATE LATTICE STRUCTURES

Onderzoeksoutput: Conference paperResearch

Samenvatting

The emergence of plate lattice structures has attracted much attention in lightweight engineering
due to their exceptional stiffness per unit weight. In this study, one type of plate lattice structure
is examined for its compressive and flexural properties by both numerical and experimental
methods. The lattice design is first simulated using the finite element method to gain insight
into its mechanical behaviour. Then, the plate lattice structure sample was 3D printed using the
fused filament fabrication technique and underwent compression and three-point bending tests.
Experimental results indicate that the plate lattice structure has a higher stiffness to weight ratio
than common truss-based lattice structures.
