Craftmanship is mastery - About the need to professionalize police leadership

Onderzoeksoutput: ChapterResearchpeer review

Samenvatting

Police leaders play an important part in the steering of the organisation of the local police. They are also vulnerable. This article discusses the need for professionalism for this category of leaders. We argue that police leadership has become a discipline with its own development process and set of requirements for the job. The question arises what 'professionalism' means for police leadership as a discipline? How can police leadership as a discipline be developed or professionalised?
