The VUB Chair ‘Data Protection on the Ground’ promotes the investigation into actual practices of data privacy in organisations and the dissemination of best practices. The presentation will discuss results of multi-stakeholder roundtables between March-September 2019, discussing challenges and solutions for (personal) data protection in the media, smart cities, and financial sector. The approach is based on the perspective of ‘cooperative responsibility’ (Helberger, Pierson & Poell, 2018).
