De autonomie van de esthetiek in Kierkegaards Enten/Eller. Over ledigheid en verveling.

Samenvatting

Starting from Kierkegaard's early criticism on Romanticism, I analyse the aesthetic paradigm and its paradoxical structure as maieutically present in Enten/Eller. In doing so, I focus on Vexeldriften, in which I find clearly exemplified the deadlocks inherent in an aesthetic way of life. After exploring Kierkegaard's concept of boredom and idleness, I conclude by pointing out that in Kierkegaard's underlying criticism of aesthetics, a clear hint of early Romanticism (especially Fr. Schlegel) can be found.
