Samenvatting

Recent years have witnessed a shift towards nonlinear system identification, where a wide variety of model structures and methods are being studied. Block-oriented models, consisting of interconnections of linear dynamical systems and static nonlinearities, are a promising choice, as they provide a good balance between flexibility and simplicity. However, currently no methods are available to identify any given block-structure—even for simple structures, a variety of identification techniques exists.
