Samenvatting

New Long-Range radio technologies have recently appeared in the IoT landscape. Combining the existing communication
protocols with these novel radio technologies could increase the potential opportunities and the diversity of use cases
for Wireless Sensor Networks. In this paper, an implementation of a LoRa based sensor platform that uses the Contiki OS is
proposed, in order to enable standardized IPv6 LoRa communications. This development will allow to expand state-of-the-art
routing protocols for WSNs (e.g. RPL), and to take advantage of this newly available radio technology. The feasibility of the
integration is demonstrated by presenting range measurements for a point-to-point link between two Contiki-enabled LoRa
motes.
