    Samenvatting

Nowadays the concept of scalarity appears in studies on phenomena as varied as quantification, gradation, comparison and intensification. The question, however, of whether this scalar representation can really be considered as underlying these phenomena should be examined further. If this were to be the case, another question would be whether this representation allows for a unified treatment of apparently very different structures, not only in French but also in a large array of languages. This present issue hopes to provide the means to answer these questions.
