Modelling soil organic carbon (SOC) distribution with depth, as a function of land use and soil type in Flanders (Belgium).

Jeroen Meersmans, Fedor De Ridder, Frank Canters, Marc Van Molle

Onderzoeksoutput: Conference paper

Samenvatting

Defining the depth at which the highest amount of SOC is present, can improve soil management in
the framework of the Kyoto protocol. The results of this study indicate that SOC distribution with depth is
highly dependent on land use and soil type. In order to estimate the amount of SOC by depth as function of
land use and soil type a quantitave model was constructed.
