Report on examination of environmental implications of multimodal transportation choices

Within the ESTIMATE project, it is the intention to use the Ecoscore indicator and extend the methodology to other transport modes. The environmental impact of multimodal passenger traffic will be assessed with the help of a multimodal Ecoscore passenger model based on well-to-wheel emissions.

To assess the emissions and environmental impact of multimodal transportation new multi modal eco indicators and a new reference situation to compare de the different passenger transport modes were developed. The emission data for the public transport modes were gathered to extend the emission database. The aim of this document is to give a summary of the used methodology. More specifically, the new developed environmental rating indicators, the used input data and the prospected outcome are explained.
