Samenvatting

The concept of diaspora describes transnational populations that construct imaginaries of belonging. In them, women are positioned as guarantors of community tradition. However, the emergence of digital technologies has challenged the possibility of showing the diversity inherent in diasporic populations. This article analyzes the agency of Sahrawi women to contest traditions associated with restricted politics of belonging. Through a social media ethnography, this research examines how social experiences that intersect in online and offline contexts are embodied through different discourses that valorize new forms of belonging.
