Samenvatting

Sexual abuse takes place in several forms, and is a serious public health problem that requires a multidisciplinary approach. Sharing evidence-based or best practices among stakeholders is of crucial importance. Professional organisations can facilitate this. In this chapter, we introduce three national professional organisations, representing five countries: the National Organisation for the Treatment of Abuse (NOTA, United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland), the Dutch/Flemish chapter of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (NL-ATSA, the Netherlands and Belgium) and the National Coordination of Treatment and Research about Sexual Offending—Italian Experiences (CoNTRAS-TI, Italy). We will present the aims, activities and status of these organisations, followed by a reflection on their (future) role in evidence-based practice, policy and research.
