The aim of this thesis was to investigate the potential impact of Lyotard's ideas on the discipline of sociology. A new sociological paradigm is presented, drawing from Lyotard's (social) philosophical insights. This paradigm can be described as poststructuralist and postmodernist, and provides a possible alternative to the established logic of structuralism.
